Polar caps in emergency

Publié le par Laura Leblay

Did you ever think that Inuit people could invent a new word for sun burns?

Because of the global warming, they have done it and the result is: uunnitaaqtuq. You could find it funny, but the situation in polar caps is extremely critical and catastrophes are accumulating.

Indeed, the Artic ice floe, in about forty years, will become a little layer of freeze, not any thicker than two or three meters unlike today.

Moreover, many glaciers are melting three times faster than ten years ago.

Finally, because of the global warming linked to the green house gases, the average temperature will be hotter of four or seven degrees before the end of the century.

To me, positive changes are possible but we can't do a lot of things to save the polar caps. However, we could help associations which have a bigger power than us, and change our habits to be more respectful towards our planet.
